United by their love of disco, Italo, acid house, Detroit techno and UK club culture, Rare Specimens combines road-tested experience with finely tuned taste acquired through decades of crate-digging and DJing across the globe.

Dan Rainey (otherwise known as Everybody), is known for performing dynamic sets that draw from his formidable grasp of genres and eras. Expect everything from dusty disco gems to obscure psychedelia, raw funk bombs to cutting-edge house and techno heaters — no stone is left unturned in search of the perfect mix.

DJ 22Tango has been playing the music he loves for over 25 years across New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Starting off in the vibrant NZ outdoor party scene he played many of the big festivals of the day including the Gathering & Destination.

Vino Paradiso is a Wellington-based DJ shaped by years in London’s underground, with roots in DIY parties and a deep obsession with sound system culture.

Based in Wānaka, NZ, Matt McPhee has appeared at festivals including Rhythm and Alps and Relish, co-founded the Toneworks club nights with partner in crime Nick Munday, and supported artists such as Frank Booker and Christopher Tubbs.

Nick Munday, a DJ and producer originally from the wild Northern Pennines in the UK, is now based in New Zealand. He started his journey in the UK club scene during the 90s, and his love for vinyl collecting and diverse tastes have led him to explore the world.

With a DJ career spanning over a decade, Danny Del Amor has played at a few, but not enough, of our beloved festivals. He has been welcomed by Rhythm & Alps, Relish Festival, and many underground raves and parties.
